What do we want? Climate action! When do we want it? Now!

So the cries went, as yesterday, with similar strikes and protests across the country and worldwide, Melbourne mobilised 150,000 marchers (triple last year's efforts) for the #climatestrike protest.

A hugely diverse gathering, bound together by on the one hand, a care for fossil fuel alternatives and job replacement for those involved in such industries, and on the other, a deep dread at a government's seemingly deaf ears on the subject.

"There is no Planet B", and "Stop stealing our future" were just some of the slogans toted on banners and placards, many by school children who had used the day-off to attend, and who have been a true mobilising force since 'Skolstrejk för klimatet's inception.

Those gathered listened to impassioned speeches by first nationers, activists, and schoolchildren alike before closing off the CBD by marching in droves, peacefully, but proud and loud down exhibition street to just-off Federation square, before circling back.

Whilst one march may not change big business's avaricious needling to continue fracking and coal mining; the effect of worldwide exposure of the issue cannot be understated.
