With an out-of-the-blue drop of a 17minute, Aneil Karia (Topboy) directed, short film; UK artist Kano heralds the release of his sixth studio album with two new tracks: Trouble and Class of Deja.

Referring to Deja Vu Fm, and pirate radio times, the latter features equal veterans of the scene, and former N.A.S.T.Y. Crew members, D Double E and Ghetts. The b2b mic-sharing aspect of ‘Class of Deja’, coupled with the grimy cut-up beat undercuts and plays off the conversational, gospel-style of ‘Trouble’, which the video as a whole is named after. Here, Kano introduces the dualities that might emerge within the album.

With a three year hiatus after 2016’s MOBO-wining Made in the Manor, a highly autobiographical and personal record, HAS is set to take a less introspective look at the communities, and issues, facing London today.

“my thing isn’t ‘put down the knives’ because at the same time, I get it. I’m from there. I know why people would want to carry a knife”

Class of Deja

From the culture in ‘Trouble’s video that may seem alien to celebrate a life so quickly after its loss, to the aural differences that express Kano’s range across the first two tracks, to the messages at the record’s core – the Darcus Howe soundbite about community versus Kano and Ghetts splitting lines on the subject of “repercussions”; Hoodies All Summer will surely open up the floor for discussion, showcase a true musical giant’s portfolio, and be surely banging out of cars and speakers, if not on radio itself, all summer and more.

Hoodies All Summer is set to release on 30th August.
